COVID-19 Tax Deadline Updates

All states with a personal income tax have extended their April 15th tax deadlines:

38 states due 7/15: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN UT, VT, WI, WV and USVI, including DC

– 8 states due with different due dates: [IA (7/31), HI, (7/20), ID (6/15), NH (6/15) MS (5/15), OR (4/30), VA (6/1), WA (6/15)] and Puerto Rico (6/15) .

The following is a breakdown of the NEW tax deadlines for individuals and businesses:

 

INDIVIDUAL Tax Deadlines:

Federal:

  • Forms 1040, 1041, 709, 1st and 2nd quarter estimates, IRA distributions due July 15, 2020

Connecticut:

  • Forms 1040, 1041, 1st & 2nd quarter estimates due July 15, 2020

New York:

  • Forms 1040, 1041 due July 15, 2020

New Jersey:

  • Form 1040 due July 15, 2020

BUSINESS Tax Deadlines:

Federal:

  • Forms 1120 due July 15, 2020
  • Opt-in available to defer payroll taxes:
    • 50% due December 31, 2021
    • The other 50% due December 31, 2022

Sales Tax:

  • CT sales tax returns originally due March 31 and April 30 are now due May 31, 2020.
  • Click here to request relief for NY sales tax due March 20, 2020

Connecticut:

  • Form 1065, 1120S, 1120, 990, 706/709 due June 15, 2020 
  • Form 1065/1120SI ES (estimated payments normally due between March 15, 2020, and July 15, 2020) due July 15th

New York:

  • Form 1120 July 15, 2020

New Jersey:

  • Form CBT-100 due July 15, 2020
